Omaha Storm Damage to the House
This stormwater was the result of the riverbank overflowing and depositing Black Water (contaminated with sewage, pesticides, and mud) into the first level of this home in Omaha. The photo illustrates the dirty water covering the floor and soaking into the walls. We extracted the water in a few hours, and then we cut out a two-foot high portion of drywall to create a safer home environment. Of course, the carpet and padding were non-salvageable, and as shown in the second photograph, air movers and dehumidifiers were set up to evaporate and capture the remaining moisture lingering in the structure. This moisture removal took three days to dry out the concrete pad slowly and to verify that the cinder blocks were also within normal standards of dryness. Before rebuild could happen, these verifications are necessary to prevent future mold or pathogen problems.
